The Christmas Tree

Today has been so uneventful. I've been doing laundry, dishes, and other housework. I made a crockpot meal today which turned out pretty good, Chicken Stroganoff. It was very simple... chicken, cream of mushroom, sour cream, and onion soup mix. If you go with light and fat free ingredients, it turns out to be pretty healthy, maybe need to add some mushrooms. I served it over noodles but will probably go with brown rice next time around.

We got the tree put up and I finally took some pictures of it. I'm thinking about adding some gold ribbon to it. Here are a couple of pics...

Home Depot Gift Cards

So I was checking out a couple of blogs and noticed that I could sign up for a chance to win a $100 Home Depot gift card. How wonderful it would be to take my gift card to Home Depot and buy curtains and curtain rods that we've been needing for over a year now.

What would you do with a Home Depot gift card worth $100? Go to One Project Closer to find out how you can get one!

Have a great weekend!

Trip to the nursery

Ok, so J and I have been wanting to get a couple of shade trees for the yard. Since he's off this week we went on a journey today to find a nursery and buy at least one tree. We found a tulip poplar, which we've been wanting one of because they are supposed to grow quickly and be good shade trees. We paid for it, loaded it up, and headed home. We were very creative about this, here are a few pics...

Just a Few Updates

Ok, so it's been quite a while since I've updated my blog. Here are just a few of the things that have been going on...

I went to visit my family and my niece decided to take some pictures. This is one of here artistic shots.

My husband built a shed.

And I made a perfect pan of cornbread. I cut it then decided to take a picture for my page. I was so excited about this. The last couple of times I made cornbread it stuck to the pan and was horrible.

We planted some beautiful plants in the front flower bed. We still need to put down some mulch so I'll post another tomorrow.

The Finished Product

This is our new backyard. It was complete before 11am. We are so proud of this fence. Percy is too, but the thing he's most proud of is his freedom. Notice how he took advantage of it.

The Fence

The fence is halfway done. I'll post more pictures when it's finished.

I took this picture of Percy today.

The Weekend and This Week

Our friend Billy and his aunt, Gloria, came to visit Saturday. We went to the flea market, where I found a purse and a jar of honey. Look out Pooh Bear! It was lots of fun. We also went to see The Dark Knight. Yes, I recommend this movie.

Sunday was church then home. We stopped and got a newspaper for coupons. I'm going to see how much I can cut the grocery bill.

The guys came to start our fence install Monday. This is something we are very excited about. Percy will have his own yard to roam around in without supervision. He'll be a free dog tomorrow afternoon.

So today, Tuesday, my friend Sami and I went shopping. Before we started spending money though, we went to the library. Mobile has a very nice library not far from our house. I got a library card and voter registration form and began to feel like part of the community. I don't get out much. Our next stop was Old Navy then it was Best Buy. After that, we went to the mall where I bought a dress. A dress is the only thing I bought for myself today. Everything else was Jason's. One thing required by the man of the house was a HMDI cable for the XBox 360. I didn't realize that I was up for a challenge when I entered Best Buy but to my surprise, they have like 50 of those cables to choose from, some of which are $100. I looked over by the XBoxes to find the one that fit our needs perfectly and it was half the price of those other ones, called Mr. Mullican to make sure it would work, and checked out.

I'll be waking up too early in the morning for the fence people but it'll be worth it.

Percy

Well we've had a new addition to the family since the last time I posted. Sorry it's been so long but we've been getting settled and spending time with this pup. His name is Percy and he's an English bulldog who is almost 7 months old. He was eating a popsicle in this picture. I'll post a newer picture of him soon.

Percy and I just got home from a visit with my family in Laurel, MS. He visited both sets of grandparents and had the best time with all of his cousins. I had fun too. I got to spend time with my twin sister and her family, who I haven't seen very much since we live about 200 miles apart. I mostly visited everybody and even went to New Orleans one day. It was a very busy 5 days. We went to Charlie's Catfish and had boiled shrimp with our friend Sara. While Sara and I were waiting on Leslie to meet us, we went to the Dollar General and found some books and pens and stuff. I didn't even know they sold books. I bought one of them for $1! Not sure how good it's going to be but I'll keep you posted. We also went out to eat with my friend Holly and her little girl. I feel fat since I've been home.

We're getting a privacy fence next week so maybe Percy will like to stay outside a little more. Jason has also been working on a storage building for the back yard. He worked on it for most of the day today since he was off work.

Jason and I started watching Prison Break so that's all we've done this evening.

So here's a run down of some things I'm currently doing:
Watching Prison Break Season 2
Reading Almost Dead by Lisa Jackson
Listening to Sermons on Hearing God

Jason and I will be going to the flea market with one of my friends tomorrow. Hopefully we'll all find some cool stuff.

Hello

Hi, we are Jason and Ashlie. We've been married since August 18, 2007. We went to Disney World for our honeymoon and have been living in AL ever since. Jason works as a System Administrator for Chevron. We bought a house in December and are still trying to get everything in it's place. Getting DSL here has been a nightmare. We ordered our service with AT&T at the end of December and they can't seem to keep the install date. They've given about 8 different dates so far... guess we'll hopefully have it by the end of the year.
